Inscape Publications was created in July, 2002. Its mandate is to foster, nurture and showcase new and emerging Nova Scotian writing talent in the novel form of storytelling.

Given these objectives, Inscape seeks to not emphasize one genre over another as is the case with most publishing houses. Instead, what distinguishes Inscape is its capacity to direct the efforts and resources of the publishing house to meet the needs of the writers, their stories and characters - not the other way around. At Inscape we believe creativity is essential in the making and presenting of novels.

Thanks to the Writers' Federation of Nova Scotia and their annual Atlantic Writing Awards, an independent and anonymous panel of judges identifies those writers who have crafted together novels worthy of acclaim via the H.R. (Bill) Percy Award. It is the aim of Inscape to assist in bringing those works written by Nova Scotian resident writers before the reading public. Inscape desires to become the means by which Nova Scotian literature is appreciated on the same level as is Nova Scotian music.
