Cameron Royce Jess lives with his wife Linda in Hall's Harbour, a fishing village on Nova Scotia's beautiful Bay of Fundy shore. They have a son, Holden, and a daughter, Gaea. His debut novel, Bearer of the Chosen Seed, (released nation-wide in Canada in 2003), captured an Atlantic Writing Contest Award as did his second novel Soul Voyage (released nation-wide in Canada in 2004). He has lectured extensively on Joshua Slocum, an interest developed during the two years he and Linda spent cruising the Caribbean on their 35' sloop, Rozinante.

Upon graduation from university Cameron joined the Canadian Foreign Service, serving as a diplomat in Australia during the height of the Cold War. He was also instrumental in forging a ground-breaking cross-cultural training program for Canadian International Development Agency personnel. He later immersed himself in social housing, aiding many of Nova Scotia's rural poor to acquire their own homes.
